3 Ways to Use SlideShare for Technology Marketing

Use SlideShare to check out a competitor, study a prospect and improve your Search Engine Optimization (SEO).

SlideShare is almost like Pinterest for B2B companies. Companies and experts post their presentations for others to share and offer comments. It’s amazing how fast SlideShare has grown and how simply it can be used for technology marketing.

SlideShare is the world’s largest community for sharing presentations. With 60 million monthly visitors and 130 million pageviews, it is amongst the most visited 200 websites in the world. Besides presentations, SlideShare also supports documents, PDFs, videos and webinars.

Here are three ways you can start using SlideShare today:

  1. Check out how your competitors are marketing. This is a good opportunity for you to learn how your competitors promote their products and services. Compare their presentations to yours. Make sure you are creating a unique position for your products and services.Remember, your brand is a reflection of your company’s values, culture and reputation. Don’t copy your competitors’ messaging; use it to strengthen your position. Be different.
  2. Prepare for your next sales call. Reading your prospect’s website will give you good background information but their sales presentation will show you how they sell to their customers. Reviewing their presentation can help you simplify and hone in on the probing questions to use during your sales call. Isn’t it great when the person on the other end of the phone says, “That’s a great question.”? You may even find a few ways your prospect can improve their sales efforts to the channel.
  3. If you build it, they will come to you. Add SlideShare to your in-bound marketing efforts and you should see a bump in your SEO. SlideShare content spreads virally through blogs and social networks such as LinkedIn, Facebook and Twitter.Cold calling will only get you so far. When’s the last time you bought from a cold caller?

“Over 80% of decision makers absolutely will not buy from a cold call.”
-Kenan Flagler Business School, University of North Carolina

When you need something, you go to the web and search; your prospects are doing the same thing. Adding SlideShare to your marketing arsenal will improve your online presence. SlideShare offers a basic free account plus tiered pricing options with more features.

Incorporating SlideShare into your technology marketing efforts is an easy way to check out your competition, prepare for your next sales meeting and increase your online visibility.

Interesting that 80% of decision makers will not buy from a cold call. That means that 20% will. I’m not a “cold caller” so anything that helps my inbound marketing and those of my clients I’m all for it.
