4 Reasons Why a Video Should Be a Part of Your Technology Marketing Strategy

Video is a great way to break through the clutter of digital marketing and really make an impression.

Video has quickly become a prominent B2B marketing tactic. According to a survey conducted by the Content Marketing Institute, 2012 B2B Content Marketing Benchmarks, Budgets and Trends, video has grown in usage from 41% in 2011 to 52% in 2012, just behind blogs. Marketers are catching on to the effectiveness of video in technology marketing.

There are a few reasons I think videos have become so popular and will continue to become an essential part of your technology marketing strategy, and why I think you should start doing them.

  1. More engaging. Who doesn’t prefer to watch something than read something with the same information? Video is a great way to engage viewers and get them more pumped up and interested in something. It can be a very impactful way to get your message across. And, if you are trying to break into the industry or make your product/service stand out a video will help.
  2. Increase your SEO. Search engine optimization is another useful way to get more attention online, but it can be hard to raise your status in search results with everyone else doing it. Fortunately, YouTube is owned by Google, so posting your videos on YouTube actually increases the video’s SEO. Also, Google realizes the usefulness of videos and purposely puts them higher on search results, so you have a better chance of getting noticed.
  3. Easy to share. Social networking has also changed the digital B2B marketing game. Everywhere you go there are share buttons. And one of the easiest things to share is videos. If someone watches a video they liked or thought was important, social media makes it easy to pass it on, giving you more reach.
  4. Faster & cheaper. With advancements in marketing techniques and programs, creating videos can be a much faster and inexpensive way to market than in the past. It also means it is easier to convert your written information into video form, so you can start building a library of valuable resources.

Any of your content can be converted into a video, so take a look at your marketing strategy and figure out what you want to showcase in a video and make it happen. The sky is the limit.
